The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Duke Asthma, Allergy, and Airway Center plays a crucial role in providing direct and indirect patient care as part of a multi-specialty healthcare team. This position emphasizes the delivery of nursing care in accordance with established protocols and physician orders, ensuring the comfort and safety of patients while participating in various healthcare initiatives.

  • Provide and document direct nursing care to patients and families according to the scope of the LPN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • Assist physicians and nursing personnel in performing diagnostic procedures.
  • Evaluate nursing care with a focus on procedures and patient responses, assisting in the delivery of nursing care and prioritization.
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures for patient comfort and safety.
  • Maintain the environment of care, including equipment and material resources.
  • Identify clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and assist in related activities.
  • Control material resources and maintain equipment, reporting malfunctions to the charge nurse.
  • Participate in in-service education programs and conferences.
  • Assist in training new employees.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Graduation from an accredited Practical Nurse program is required.
  • Current State of North Carolina LPN licensure is required.
  • BLS Certification is required.
  • $10,000 Commitment Bonus paid in 4 equal installments over 24 months for eligible new hires.
