About The Position

The position is for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Advocate Health, specifically within the Urology department at the Winston Salem Stratford Executive Park location. The role is full-time, requiring 40 hours per week, with a schedule from Monday to Friday, 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM, and no weekend or holiday shifts. The LPN will be responsible for providing care to patients, documenting interactions, participating in telephone triage, and assisting providers during procedures. The position requires adherence to various health and safety regulations and involves physical demands such as lifting and supporting patients.

Requirements

  • Licensed Practical Nurse with current license to practice in applicable state.
  • Graduate of an Accredited School of practical nursing.
  • Previous medical office experience preferred.
  • BLS required per policy guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care or arrange for appropriate care for patients.
  • Documents all patient care/interactions in the patient medical record.
  • Participates in telephone triage by obtaining clinically appropriate data and symptoms from patients.
  • Ensures all ordered laboratory and diagnostic tests are tracked and logged.
  • Pre-visit planning with provider and care team.
  • Administers medications, including injections.
  • Checks vital signs, height, and weight.
  • Assists with reviewing medication history and updating medication lists.
  • Assists providers during procedures and examinations.
  • Utilizes standard precautions and complies with various regulatory standards.
  • Reports patient's condition and reactions to the provider.
  • Assists with patient inquiries for prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and referral authorization.
  • Participates in electronic documentation of care.
  • Completes CLIA approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing.
  • Performs Quality Control and maintenance for Point of Care in-office lab procedures.
  • Performs venipuncture and assists with specimen collection.
  • Provides patients with Depart Summary and review at the end of the visit.
  • Responsible for vaccine and pharmaceutical orders and monitoring inventory levels.
