Many disorders of the heart occur similarly in other areas of the body including arteries and veins in the neck, arms and legs. The Akron General Heart & Vascular Center is one of just a few centers in the country that provides the opportunity for collaboration among Center specialists. As new treatment options are developed in one specialty, they can be brought to the others as well. By joining this team as an LPN, you will assist fellow caregivers, including one Cardiothoracic Surgeon and four Vascular Surgeons, in providing exceptional, top-quality care to a diverse patient population. In this role, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, all while enhancing your nursing skills through hands-on experience and numerous educational resources offered within the Cleveland Clinic system. A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Start and end times may vary.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved School of Practical Nursing
  • Current Ohio licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient care activities and complete required documentation for patients of all ages.
  • Collect and document objective and subjective data and observations about the patient.
  • Contribute observations and health information to the nursing assessment and report all data to the RN or authorized directing health care provider.
  • Implement the current plan of nursing care at the direction of the RN, or the medication or treatment authorized by the authorized directing health care provider.
  • Document and verbally communicate the patient’s response to the nursing plan of care, or the medication or treatment including observing patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments and performing routine laboratory tests.
  • Contribute to the revision of the nursing plan of care
  • Provide education and information to patients and family members.
  • Maintain professional growth and development within nursing field.
  • Participate in the departmental orientation of new caregivers in a positive manner, share knowledge and experiences, and provide guidance when assigned.
