What you’ll do: You’ll directly supervise licensed professional counselors. provide advanced clinical counseling service to clients, oversee treatment delivery, conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and ensure compliance with clinical and facility standards. Provide licensed clinical supervision to LPS-Associates and serve as a key clinical resource within the East Texas Treatment Facility (ETTF), Management &Training Corporation (MTC), and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) directives. Essential Functions: Demonstrates advanced knowledge of mental health disorders, dual diagnoses, addiction, co-dependency, and related conditions. Designs and implements complex treatment and discharge plans for clients with mental health, behavioral, and dual-diagnosis needs. Provides crisis intervention, suicide prevention response, and independent clinical judgment to de-escalate or manage abnormal or disruptive behavior. Conducts clinical assessments, diagnostic evaluations, screenings, and treatment planning. Facilitates individual and group counseling sessions using evidence-based practices. Makes referrals to contracted professionals and coordinates multidisciplinary care. Prepares clear, accurate clinical documentation, progress notes, and reports. Presents cases to the treatment team and supports ongoing program planning. Maintains confidentiality of records and ensures documentation meets regulatory and facility standards. Collaborates with psychiatric, medical, social work, and administrative staff to ensure continuity of care. Promotes development of positive social skills and intervenes appropriately when inappropriate behavior is observed. Maintains client accountability, adheres to safety procedures, and follows all ETTF and TDCJ directives. Provides formal clinical supervision to LPC-Associates in accordance with state licensing requirements. Conducts weekly supervision sessions and monitors progress toward supervised experience hours. Reviews clinical work, documentation, and treatment decisions to ensure ethical and competent practice. Offers professional guidance, corrective feedback, and mentorship to counseling staff. Serves as a clinical resource for resolving complex case issues and improving overall service quality. Manages administrative duties of the Unified Protocol program. Maintains spreadsheets and tracking tools to ensure program compliance. Ensures assessments, screenings, and treatment services are completed within required timeframes. Monitors caseloads of LPCs and LPC-As to support fair and balanced workloads. Verifies timely and accurate documentation of all services. Provides group coverage and conducts individual sessions as needed. Maintains schedules, coordinates services, and supports continuity of programming. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervene when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques. Maintain accountability of Inmates and property; adhere to safety practices. It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Requirements

  • Masters’s degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or United States Department of Education (USDE), in counseling, psychology, social work, mental health, substance abuse counseling, or related field.
  • Four (4) years full-time, wage-earning substance abuse treatment experience preferred; experience with justice-involved populations highly desirable.
  • Each year of experience in excess of required four (4) years may be substituted for thirty (30) semester hours from an accredited college or university on a year-for-year basis.
  • Strong clinical assessment, documentation, crisis intervention, and therapeutic skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suites preferred.
  • Must possess current valid licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor – Supervisor (LPC-S) by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
  • Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
  • Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements and pass an annual background check, both of which must be approved by TDCJ.
  • Must Maintain valid licensure, LPC-S and CPR/First Aid certification for continued employment in position.
