About The Position
The LP Gas and Oil Burner Technician A at Dartmouth College is responsible for the installation, servicing, and repair of furnaces, boilers (both steam and hot water), and their controls within college facilities. This role requires troubleshooting low-pressure boilers, incinerators, and multi-stage boilers, while adhering to annual cleaning and service schedules. The technician will maintain records of serviced furnaces and troubleshoot and repair LP gas appliances and commercial cooking equipment. The position is critical in ensuring that all heating systems operate efficiently and safely, contributing to the overall comfort and safety of the college community. The technician will work closely with the Equipment Maintenance Shop and will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and environmental regulations. This includes maintaining knowledge of applicable codes and regulations related to the LP gas and oil burner trade. The role requires significant hands-on work, including the physical installation of equipment and the ability to perform maintenance tasks in various conditions, including potentially hazardous environments. In addition to technical skills, the technician must possess strong customer service skills and a commitment to serving a diverse community. The position is full-time, with a standard schedule of 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and requires the ability to work overtime when necessary. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work environment and ensuring that all tools and equipment are in good working order.
