The Lower School Technology Teacher will provide a dynamic and developmentally appropriate technology program for students in grades K4–6th grade, who use 1-1 iPads. Instruction will focus on building foundational technology skills, digital literacy, responsible digital citizenship, and creative problem-solving using Apple products and a variety of instructional technology tools. The Technology teacher is expected to stay current with educational technology trends and support the school’s long-term instructional technology goals in partnership with our faculty and technology team. Our teachers are building Christian community within and beyond the school, are active in a church community, and serve as Christian role models to students, parents, and staff. OCS teachers are expected to make meaningful connections between faith and learning. The employee is responsible for continuing education and completing certification requirements. Teachers must demonstrate strong instructional and classroom management skills, including but not limited to: using a variety of teaching strategies and resources to actively engage students; adjusting curriculum as appropriate; posting lesson plans on FACTS weekly; creating and documenting curriculum in Atlas; evaluating instructional materials against student performance; assessing students and providing opportunities for students to demonstrate mastery; grading and returning student work in a timely manner; enforcing school discipline policies in a consistent and loving manner; promptly communicating with parents and administration regarding academic or behavioral concerns; and maintaining an organized classroom and technology environment. The Lower School Technology Teacher is a position requiring a calling to use God-given talents to further the Kingdom of God. The Lower School Technology Teacher is expected to be a minister to the OCS community through actions, speech, attitude, and prayer, as they point students to Christ.
