Lower School Teacher Assistant
About The Position
Kennedy International School provides a bilingual, well-rounded education for its students from preschool through 12th grade. Through our individualized approach to instruction thanks to our small student-teacher ratio, students are encouraged to leverage their personal strengths and passions as they develop their language and academic knowledge. We are looking for a full-time Teacher Assistant to join our Lower School for the 2025-2026 school year and play an active part in the day-to-day activities of our Lower School classes in English. This role has an immediate start date. The ideal candidate will be compassionate and self-motivated as well as possessing an innate joy of working with young children. He/she will be devoted to building a nurturing and safe learning environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification
- A minimum of 2 years experience as a teaching assistant or similar role
- Solid understanding of classroom activities and teaching best practices
- Must have a compassionate and positive attitude
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Outstanding interpersonal and presentation abilities
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in education or relevant field is preferred
- Preferred candidate will have a current U.S. work visa, if applicable
Responsibilities
- Assisting teachers with lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up equipment
- Working with the lead teacher to monitor the class schedule
- Going over lesson material with students individually or in small groups
- Ensuring the classroom environment is safe, clean and tidy
- Overseeing students during non-classroom times including in-between classes, during lunch, recess, and on-field excursions
- Collaborating with lead teachers to recognize issues students are facing and recommend solutions
- Helping lead teachers to create lesson plans
- During camps, participating as an Lead Teacher
- Complying with state, school, and class rules and regulations.
- Attending all training classes, parent conferences, and faculty meetings
