About The Position

Fort Worth Country Day seeks a lower school lead teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. This position reports to the Head of Lower School. FWCD seeks applicants who will be actively engaged and involved beyond the classroom as a member of a family-centered, independent school community. This position is slated for 1st or 3rd grade, but could be moved to 2nd or 4th depending on the needs of the school. Teachers are responsible for fostering and nurturing the intellectual, physical, social, ethical and leadership development of their students. Teaching responsibilities include language arts, mathematics, and social studies within a thematic-based curriculum that integrates the arts and technology. Responsibilities beyond the classroom include service on committees and possible involvement in coaching, club sponsorship, and/or summer and after-school enrichment programs. Teachers are expected to maintain collaborative and supportive working relationships with their grade-level team members as well as subject specialists.

Requirements

  • Experience in elementary education, preferably with interdisciplinary teaching.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher; master's degree preferred.
  • Possess a growth mindset and strong ethical principles.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and the reading/writing workshop.
