About The Position

As a Lower School Co-Teacher, you will work collaboratively with a Lower School Lead teacher to co-plan, co-instruct, and co-manage a classroom, providing a comprehensive and supportive learning environment for our early elementary students. In this role, you will be responsible for providing direct instruction in whole-group and small-group classroom settings.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (required)

• Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
• Experience in co-teaching or collaborative teaching models (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Embody & Élan Academy’s mission, vision, and values;
• Participate in an annual summer staff orientation and training;
• Internalize scripted lesson plans and instructional frameworks from various curriculums.
• Collaboratively plan and deliver engaging and differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of scholars.
• Utilize various teaching strategies, including hands-on activities, technology integration, and small group instruction.
• Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Implement classroom management techniques that promote positive behavior and encourage student participation.
• Work collaboratively with the lead teacher to develop and adapt curriculum aligned with state standards and district goals.
• Assist in the design and implementation of formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress.
• Analyze student data to inform instructional practices and provide targeted interventions or enrichment.
• Provide individualized support and accommodations to students with diverse learning needs, including those with special educational requirements or English language learners.
• Collaborate with support staff, such as special education teachers, counselors, and specialists, to ensure comprehensive student support.
• Foster an inclusive and equitable learning environment that celebrates diversity and promotes social-emotional development.
• Maintain effective communication and collaboration with the lead teacher, teammates, and parents/guardians.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance pedagogical skills, subject knowledge, and classroom management strategies.
• Contribute to the overall school community by attending meetings, participating in committees, and supporting school-wide initiatives.
