About The Position

North Star Montessori Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Lower Elementary Teacher (Grades 1-3) to join our collaborative and child-centered school community. Position Overview The Lower Elementary Teacher is responsible for guiding students in grades 1-3 through a supportive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment aligned with Montessori principles and state standards.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (required)
Valid teaching license (required)
Experience working with lower elementary-aged students
Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
Growth mindset and commitment to continuous professional learning

Nice To Haves

Montessori certification (preferred but not required; willingness to pursue Montessori training encouraged)

Responsibilities

Create and maintain a prepared Montessori classroom environment that supports independence and engagement
Plan and deliver instruction in reading, writing, math, and integrated subject areas
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
Use formative assessments and progress monitoring tools (including NWEA data) to inform instruction
Foster a positive classroom culture focused on respect, responsibility, and growth
Communicate regularly and effectively with families
Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration
Support students' social-emotional development and executive functioning skills
