JOB TITLE: Teacher DEPARTMENT: Faculty REPORTS TO: All-School Principal or Assistant Principal FLSA STATUS: Exempt SALARY RANGE: $51,000-$82,000 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES PERSONAL & SPIRITUAL RESPONSIBILITIES Displays a personal decorum that models professionalism, modesty, and good taste Models Christian virtues in attitude, speech, and action Exhibits the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22, 23) Models and cultivates habits of prayer, faith, and encouragement in self and others Commits and contributes to a local church Possesses a solid and growing knowledge of the Scripture and Christianity Disciples students toward spiritual growth and maturity Maintains good attendance CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT Maintains a physical classroom environment that is conducive to teaching and learning The classroom environment is welcoming The classroom is clean, safe, and orderly Displays are updated regularly, showing students’ work or instructional materials Classroom set up and furniture arrangement facilitates instruction Facilitates positive, productive interactions in the classroom Teacher demonstrates genuine care and respect for students Students exhibit cordial respect for teacher and peers Ensures that students consistently perform at a high level Teacher establishes and leads class to work towards high standards Students understand and follow classroom procedures and routines Students are productivity engaged in lessons Teacher motivates students to give their best efforts Transitions students between lessons/activities with minimum down time Teacher maintains proper control of classroom INSTRUCTION Plans and teaches lessons that contribute towards fulfillment of expectations outlined in the school’s curriculum standards Completes and submits lesson plans as instructed by Principal Presents lessons that are well structured and appropriately paced States a clear objective for each lesson Lessons contain introduction, body, and conclusion Uses transitions to connect main points Integrates lessons with other disciplines Presents lessons that “connect” with students Activates students’ prior knowledge and/or experience Differentiates instruction as a best practice Checks for understanding and adjusts when necessary Incorporates direct instruction and multi-modal techniques Assess student progress through formative and summative assessment, providing timely feedback to students and parents Cultivates high level, critical thinking skills in students Encourages students to explain, elaborate, and/or defend answers Guides students in problem-solving processes Equips students to evaluate, analyze, synthesize, and apply Corrects student errors appropriately and sensitively Instills a Biblical worldview in students Routinely makes direct connection to Scripture Guides students to evaluate content through the lens of a Biblical worldview Encourages students towards faith in and obedience to God Creates opportunities for student participation and active learning Uses Q & A, discussions, role playing, investigations, hands-on-learning, project-based learning and other methods that facilitate active participation Provides adequate opportunities for guided practice and independent practice Familiarizes self with student Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) Coordinates with PLP facilitator, parents, and students to ensure PLP guidelines are met Implements strategies and accommodations identified in PLPs PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains a system for recording and reporting on student progress and performance Keeps students, parents, and administration adequately informed and involved to remedy academic or behavior deficiencies Provides timely, accurate progress reports and report cards using the Beyond Technology Education grading practice. Builds strong partnerships with parents Engenders parental support and trust Communicates with parents regularly and effectively, including proactive positive communication Informs parents of student concerns: academic, social, behavioral Contributes to the general well-being and improvement of the school Assists the School Board and Administration in implementing policies and procedures Uphold the school's mission, vision, and values in all aspects of teaching and professional conduct Collaborates and cooperates with colleagues Attends and contributes to required school meetings and functions, including but not limited to weekly devotions, in-service training, planning meetings, Professional Learning Communities, PLP meetings, conferences, etc. Maintains and improves professional credentials Seeks opportunities for professional growth and development Fully utilize learning management systems, including keeping information up-to-date Completes other tasks assigned by administration SPECIFIC INSTRUCTION RESPONSIBILITIES The following responsibilities are specific to individual grade levels and/or teaching disciplines Teacher - General Attends planning meetings as required. Teaches core subjects according to Lighthouse’s GLE’s. Assists specialists to integrate projects.
