About The Position

A low voltage technician installs, maintains, and repairs low voltage systems (typically below 50 volts), such as security alarms, fire alarms, network cabling (cat5, cat6, fiber), and audio/visual equipment in residential and commercial settings. Key duties include running and terminating cables, testing systems, troubleshooting faults, ensuring compliance with safety codes, and providing customer support

Responsibilities

  • Install and configure low voltage systems like security, fire alarms, surveillance cameras, and network infrastructure.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance to ensure systems are functioning correctly.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in low voltage systems, including issues with wiring and equipment.
  • Run, label, and terminate horizontal cables, such as cat5, cat6, and fiber optic, for various systems.
  • Test systems for functionality and performance to ensure they meet standards.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed records of system diagrams, configurations, and work performed.
  • Ensure all installations and repairs comply with industry standards and safety codes.
  • Provide training to clients on how to use new systems and address customer concerns.
  • Work with project managers, other technicians, and contractors to complete projects on time and within budget.
