About The Position

As a Low Voltage Systems Designer at Mazzetti, you will play a key role in shaping the technology infrastructure that supports modern healthcare environments. In this hands-on position, you will contribute to the design, documentation, and implementation of innovative and sustainable low voltage and IT systems that directly impact care delivery. You will collaborate closely with healthcare users, IT and Biomedical teams, contractors, and multidisciplinary design professionals to ensure each project achieves technical excellence while advancing Mazzetti’s commitment to engineering a healthier planet. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or at least 7 years of equivalent experience without a degree, in the design and implementation of low voltage and communication systems.
  • At least 3 years of experience in design of hospitals.
  • Demonstrated experience with healthcare projects, including familiarity with state-specific codes and requirements.
  • Experience designing and providing construction quality control of all the following systems as a member of the A/E design team on hospital projects: access control, video surveillance, structured cabling, overhead paging, nurse call, A/V, and television signal distribution.
  • A solid understanding of the unique challenges and requirements of healthcare IT and communication systems, including compliance with healthcare-specific regulations and standards.
  • Experience working with BIM teams to coordinate designs in Revit to produce construction documents.
  • Experience developing internal project resource planning, reviewing project financials, and collaborating with accounting on invoices and revenue reports.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • A hands-on approach to problem-solving and solution implementation.
  • Strong technical documentation and drafting skills.
  • Strong team communication abilities and must be comfortable speaking as a participant in design meetings.

Nice To Haves

  • RCDD certification.
  • Experience designing and providing construction quality control of any of the following systems as a member of the A/E design team on hospital projects: 802.11 wireless, data network, VoIP, IT end user device placement, synchronized clocks, infant abduction, and/or two-way radio.
  • Experience leading user meetings to define the requirements for each technology system and placement of applicable devices within a facility.
  • Proficiency in software for project management, cost estimating, and document management.

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed designs, specifications, and documentation for low voltage and communication systems in healthcare settings.
  • Develop and refine technical drawings and system layouts using software tools.
  • Perform hands-on assessments of healthcare IT and communication systems requirements.
  • Conduct site surveys on construction sites to identify and address technical issues.
  • Review and respond to submittals and RFIs from contractors to ensure alignment with design intent.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with contractors and vendors to support coordination and problem-solving.
  • Collaborate directly with internal design teams to ensure seamless system integration into larger project frameworks.
  • Work with regulatory and compliance teams to align designs with industry standards.
  • Partner with healthcare users and IT/Biomedical teams to understand their operational needs and translate them into actionable design solutions.
  • Contribute to workshops, planning sessions, and technical discussions to deliver impactful, user-focused solutions.
  • Provide detailed cost estimates and budgets, ensuring that solutions align with client goals and project constraints.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, constructability, and sustainability in systems design.
