About The Position

The Low-Voltage Field Technician at Softrim LLC is responsible for performing a variety of installation, maintenance, and repair tasks on low-voltage systems. This includes systems such as audio/visual, access control, networking, nurse call, surveillance, structured cabling, telephone systems, cellular Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), and emergency responder Bi-Directional Amplifiers (BDA). The technician will work on both Softrim provided systems and existing client systems, ensuring high-quality service and customer satisfaction. In this role, the technician will maintain a comprehensive understanding of structured cabling and low-voltage systems, demonstrating proficiency in all aspects of installation and maintenance. Effective communication is essential, as the technician will need to keep project teams informed about milestones, issues, and customer follow-ups. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining technical documentation and assisting in identifying gaps in information. Continuous learning and support of technologies used in typical client locations are expected. The technician will collaborate with project teams to prepare for field deployments, attend project handoff meetings, and ensure materials are delivered and staged appropriately. Building and maintaining project relationships through quality service is crucial, as is coordinating with other departments to ensure timely project delivery while adhering to budgetary constraints. The role involves the installation and removal of various types of low-voltage cabling, including fiber optic cabling, and requires the ability to read blueprints and understand topology concepts. Safety is a priority, and adherence to OSHA guidelines is mandatory to minimize workplace injury risks. The technician will also be responsible for accurately recording work performed and maximizing billable status for their work.
