About The Position

The Low Temperature Field Technician ensures the Safety of those we work with and around, the Quality of the services we provide, and the realization of our Profitability goals as it specifically relates to the service responsibility, repair, and maintenance of industrial refrigeration systems in the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, gas compression plants, chemical plants, cold storage, and recreational ice rink facilities. Every position at DMI has technical, financial, and Sales/Marketing components.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of industrial refrigeration/HVAC/R experience.
  • Working knowledge of reciprocating, screw compressors, and common types of industrial refrigeration and/or gas compression.
  • Working knowledge of single and 2 stage systems, various types of liquid overfeed systems.
  • Familiar with CPR, HPR, pumper drum, and dump tank feed system.
  • Electrical troubleshooting, starters, contacts, VFD’s and PLC control systems.
  • Installation and replacement of compressors, motors, and pumps.
  • Intermediate computer skills specific to Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator and pass a fit test.
  • Motor alignment experience.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and complete delegated work within specified time frames.
  • Ability to read and interpret OSHA, EPA PSM, and RMP regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills and be comfortable in dealing with customers, suppliers, and co-workers.
  • Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy.
  • Ability and willingness to follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical tests.
  • Must be available to be on stand-by or work during evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA-10 certification (if not currently certified, must be obtained within six (6) months from date of hire).
  • RETA 1&2 certification preferred.
  • CARO and CIRO certification preferred.
  • Universal EPA certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for refrigeration repair and maintenance support to industrial accounts in food and beverage and refrigerated storage equipment from 100 hp to 5,000 hp.
  • Perform routine and emergency service on Freon refrigeration equipment commonly found in industrial applications.
  • Use working knowledge of screw and reciprocal compressors, electrical troubleshooting on all common types of ammonia central systems, & control/alarm systems to perform inspections and preventative maintenance as required.
  • Knowledge of controls and electrical systems (high and low voltage).
  • Mentor/train assisting apprentices.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and adherence to all work safety policies, procedures, and governing requirements.
  • Maintain and manage truck and job boxes in an accurate and neat manner, along with truck inventory.
  • Complete all required paperwork in a timely and professional manner.
  • Evaluate customer needs and make recommendations for correction and/or improvement.
  • Respond directly to customer questions, explain services provided, and provide Dispatch with a detailed summary of related costs for billing purposes.
  • Assist Service Sales with customer scope development, technical analysis/support for retrofits, upgrades, and/or enhancements to existing equipment.
