We are also responsible for leading materials development efforts (typically non-metallic) as well as identifying, developing, transitioning, and sustaining specialty and stealth materials and technologies to platforms within Boeing Defense Systems. Position Responsibilities: Provide Materials and Process Engineering support to Development Programs with focus on survivability and specialty materials to minimize radar, infrared and electromagnetic signatures of aerospace systems. Research and develop advanced materials that enhance the stealth characteristics and survivability of aircraft Make routine contact with customers, teaming partners, subcontractors, and suppliers. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined integrated product team, working alongside other skilled technicians, engineers, and support staff Defines requirements and approves tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and/or maintenance of products Produces specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes Maintains compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations Promotes standardization across business activities Evaluates emerging technologies for potential application to business needs Develops and qualifies new tools, equipment, materials, parts, processes and suppliers to meet requirements. Integrates new technologies as appropriate Manages test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements Travel to subcontractor locations to review processes and assess compliance with requirements Conducts analysis to characterize performance or determine reasons for failure of tools, materials, parts or processes Disseminates results and status to project stakeholders Interface with government, external and internal customers Support or lead non-conformances, corrective actions, fleet impact assessments, notice of escapes Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas Able to positively interact with a wide range of personnel in design, fabrication, and testing of prototypes and aircraft parts and systems, including suppliers Travel up to 10% This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required. This position requires ability to obtain a Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.
