About The Position

The Loss Reserving Actuarial Specialist plays a crucial role in providing best practice analysis for loss reserving within the American Family Enterprise. This position involves supporting the development of models and projections to ensure the business can generate consistent and sound pricing. The role requires significant actuarial knowledge and the ability to manage complex projects, while also collaborating with various departments to influence profitability through effective actuarial methodologies.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of pricing, valuation, financial reporting, and industry trends.
  • Experience communicating complex actuarial analysis to business partners.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience using actuarial software with database tools and statistical tools.
  • Demonstrated coding experience with SQL, Python, R, and/or Excel.
  • In pursuit of Associate or Fellow in Casualty Actuary Society.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex actuarial projects related to loss reserving.
  • Utilize database tools for the development and analysis of experience studies, pricing, and reserving.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of actuarial-related software.
  • Prepare and analyze complex data for actuarial experience studies, valuation, or pricing projects.
  • Influence project team participants using actuarial methodologies.
  • Provide consultation on actuarial models and risk issues to management and team members.
  • Maintain standard documentation on assigned projects and tasks.
  • Consult with other departments and field force to answer inquiries and provide explanations of an actuarial nature.
