Responsibilities

  • Monitor the checkout area for consumer fraud, associate dishonesty, and compliance with all cash‑handling and cash‑register procedures.
  • Follow up on front‑end exception report transactions as directed by the Loss Prevention Manager.
  • Observe customers throughout the store to ensure shrink control, safety, and strong customer service practices.
  • Apprehend shoplifters in accordance with state/local laws and company policy.
  • Respond to requests from police departments, courts, and other public agencies under the direction of Loss Prevention and/or Corporate Counsel.
  • Monitor the receiving area and conduct delivery audits to detect vendor fraud, associate dishonesty, and ensure compliance with receiving procedures.
  • Assist management with loss‑prevention‑related inspections.
  • Respond to Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alarms.
  • Maintain loss prevention and physical security equipment, including CCTV systems, EAS equipment at entry/exit points and checkstands, and the store’s intrusion alarm system.
  • Conduct store inspections/audits to ensure compliance with shrink control and physical security policies; document violations and notify store management and the Loss Prevention Manager.
  • Conduct internal and vendor investigations as directed by the Loss Prevention Manager.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Loss Prevention Manager.
  • Participate as an active member of the store’s Safety Committee.
  • Report incidents of unsafe associate behavior to store management and the Loss Prevention Manager.
  • Report unsafe conditions and take immediate corrective action when an imminent safety hazard is present.
  • Report deficiencies in food safety standards and take immediate action when freshness or quality issues are identified.
  • Communicate regularly with store management regarding all loss prevention issues.
  • Train associates on loss prevention programs and policies as directed by the Loss Prevention Manager.
  • Develop trust, credibility, and strong working relationships with store management and associates.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with local police, law enforcement agencies, and court personnel.
