The Loss Prevention Specialist is responsible for protecting company assets by preventing theft, shrink, and fraud while maintaining a safe shopping and working environment. This role supports store operations through observation, investigation, and education, while ensuring all actions are performed professionally and in compliance with company policies and legal guidelines. Requirements

  • Prior loss prevention, security, or retail experience preferred
  • Strong observation, communication, and report‑writing skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high‑pressure situations
  • Knowledge of theft deterrence and investigation techniques
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

  • Monitor store activity to identify and prevent theft, fraud, and unsafe behaviors
  • Conduct surveillance through floor observation and authorized camera systems
  • Accurately document incidents, investigations, and recoveries
  • Support inventory control processes to reduce shrink
  • Investigate internal and external loss incidents following company procedures
  • Complete detailed, timely, and accurate reports
  • Preserve evidence and maintain confidentiality during investigations
  • Partner with store leadership and law enforcement when appropriate
  • Promote a safe environment for customers and associates
  • Identify safety hazards and policy violations and report findings to leadership
  • Ensure compliance with asset protection policies and procedures
  • Maintain professional conduct during all loss prevention activities
  • Educate associates on theft prevention, safety awareness, and shrink reduction best practices
  • Reinforce company policies related to cash handling, receiving, and merchandise protection
  • Serve as a visible deterrent through professional presence and customer engagement
