About The Position

Job Summary: Investigate fraud and suspicious account activity, assist members with fraud concerns and ensure account security. Monitor activity to detect emerging fraud trends and work proactively to mitigate risk. Collaborate with business lines to help strengthen fraud prevention strategies, ensuring the protection of both the Credit Union and its members. Duties & Responsibilities: Work daily alerts generated from our fraud analytic systems such as Verafin and Biocatch to detect suspicious activity, deter losses and/or prevent all types of fraud. Review alerts generated from internal systems and obtain manual reports for unusual account activity. Identify unusual account activity through alert reviews and create cases in our Fraud analytic for further investigation. Review and resolve potential Zelle® fraud cases, request chargebacks, and ensure timely investigation and recovery. Review escalations from Meridian Link Deposit Account (MLDA) to identify and prevent potentially suspicious or fraudulent account openings. Assess each case and determine whether applicant may proceed. Apply appropriate restrictions or actions on account to mitigate potential losses to the Credit Union. Oversee potential deposit fraud activity including investigating the circumstances, contacting member(s), requesting supporting evidence, preserving documents, and sending necessary communications to other business lines. Initiate recovery efforts. Complete fraud investigations in a timely manner. Report qualifying events to Compliance/BSA. Collaborate across business lines to alert of fraud events experienced at the Credit Union and provide guidance to deter additional fraud. Collaborate with Law Enforcement Agencies and Financial Crime Investigators from other FI’s on an as need basis. Report potential Vulnerable Adult events to DCF when warranted. Attend Fraud Conferences or workshops, either local or via web to stay abreast of fraud trends. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

2 years of prior Credit Union or Banking experience
Prior Fraud or Loss Prevention experience preferred
Strong analytical skills
Effective communication skills
