About The Position

Proactively monitors and patrols the property to provide a safe & secure environment for guests and employees and to minimize opportunities for loss or damage. Acts to deter any agent or element from jeopardizing persons or property in or about the hotel’s facilities. Serves as an emergency first responder for the property. This job will require you to stand for at least 6 hours per shift.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate required. Some college or college degree preferred.
  • Must have at least 1 year of security experience or equivalent knowledge.
  • Proficiency in computers & electronic devices required.
  • Ability to type detailed incident reports and ensure accuracy of facts during interviews & investigations.
  • Must be proficient in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be easily understandable when speaking in English.
  • Must have basic knowledge of local, state, federal laws, OSHA standards, Fire Code, & ADA Laws.
  • Walking, standing, sitting, for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional lifting, pulling, pushing up to 50lbs required. Frequent light lifting, pulling, pushing 10lbs required.
  • Ability to perform essential functions for duration of shift with or without accommodation.
  • Prolonged standing & walking for upwards of 8-12 hours.
  • Frequent walking up & down stairs, ability to ascended & descend stairs at a rapid pace.
  • Ability to work indoors & outdoors in all weather conditions & extreme temperatures.
  • Must be able to work in noisy environments.
  • Significant portions of daily assignments involve application of manual skills requiring motor coordination in combination with finger dexterity, e.g., typing, handwriting, or machine operations.
  • Due to the nature of the business, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
  • Responsible for operating within hotel safety guidelines, including the safe and responsible operation of hotel equipment.
  • Reports and addresses safety concerns as they arise.
  • Ensures safe handling of chemicals in accordance with hotel and department standards and utilizes proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hotel security experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to learn, utilize and communicate effectively via company issued communication devices.
  • Knowledge of additional language(s) preferred.
  • First Aid/ CPR certification preferred.
  • Must be willing & able to obtain first aid/ CPR certification upon hire.
  • Must be customer-service oriented and have excellent hospitality skills.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to emergency situations according to standard operating procedures.
  • Continuously patrols the property via walking & standing with mobile electronic devices, checking all designated points and document all actions taken in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Work requires frequent activity outside & inside in all weather conditions.
  • Document all daily activity using security event tracking software.
  • Respond to dispatched calls for service & accommodate all guest requests promptly & courteously.
  • Communicate effectively via two-way radio.
  • Conduct investigations & interviews into theft or lost items, noise complaints, assaults, injury & illnesses, and other cases as assigned; complete documented incident reports in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Respond to the scene of guest/employee accidents promptly; administer first aid/CPR, and comply with all departmental procedures; communicate effectively specified information to emergency personnel as required.
  • Operate as a dispatch officer: Answer the departmental telephone in accordance with hotel standards.
  • Promptly dispatch calls for service, emergencies, & fire alarms.
  • Register all visitors & monitor loading dock operations.
  • Complete required asset audits daily.
  • Utilize email for receiving requests and sending notifications.
  • Monitor 911 calls & dispatch accordingly.
  • Provide interdepartmental assistance upon request to ensure optimum service to guests.
  • Identify & resolve all safety hazards, fire code violations, & enforce OSHA compliance.
  • Monitor & operate surveillance camera software proactively & for investigating past incidents.
  • Type incident reports utilizing computer software programs, upload & attach photos and supporting documents before end of shift.
  • Adhere to & enforce all company policies, procedures, and service standards.
  • Deliver luggage, lost & found, amenities, & other items to guest & employees.
  • All colleagues are required to fully comply with hotel and departmental rules, regulations, and policies for the safe, secure, effective, and environmentally friendly operation of the hotel facilities.
  • Provide security services for special events, VIPs, & celebrities in accordance with hotel standards.
  • Prepare & submit electronic work orders for maintenance & guest issues.
  • Operate various computer & mobile device software programs associated with property door locks, safes, Lost & Found, and other computer-based technology.
  • Confront trespassers, aggressors, assailants, thieves, & disorderly subjects safely and tactfully deescalate situations requiring Loss Prevention involvement.
  • Perform various other duties as directed by leadership that are consistent with the policies and procedures of the hotel.
