About the position

The Loss Mitigation QC Specialist at Guild Mortgage Company is responsible for ensuring compliance and quality control in the Loss Mitigation functions. This role involves auditing files, performing secondary reviews of decisions, and monitoring call quality to enhance business performance. The specialist acts as a subject matter expert, ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines and internal policies while providing feedback for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Audit files and verify calculations performed by other Loss Mitigation Specialists to ensure compliance with investor/insurer guidelines, CFPB/regulatory requirements, and internal policies/procedures.
  • Perform quality control review of modification documents and secondary review of approval or denial decisions.
  • Review and verify previous partial claims, modification terms, valid denial or approval decisions, and proper appeal verbiage and timelines.
  • Ensure proper classification of recoverable/non-recoverable fees and accurate processing.
  • Review all income/expense amount and ratio calculations for compliance with regulatory requirements and investor/insurer guidelines.
  • Ensure complete and accurate documentation of evaluations within servicing.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Actively participate in QC activities and projects designed to improve business processes.
  • Monitor call recordings/screen captures and complete Call Quality scorecards based on defined quality/compliance metrics.
  • Identify opportunities to improve QC/Call Quality processes and provide feedback related to QC findings, trends, and training opportunities.
  • Stay current on changes in industry regulations and recommend updates to internal policies and procedures.
  • Provide accurate and complete information to resolve issues and follow up on outstanding issues promptly.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college courses or a bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of back-office mortgage servicing and loss mitigation home retention/liquidation experience required.
  • Strong working knowledge of conventional and government mortgage loan documents, including processes, standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures, CFPB, FCRA, and FDCPA.
  • Ability to work in an emotionally demanding role with patience and professionalism.
  • Strong project management, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to evaluate and audit a high volume of work.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment.
  • Advanced math skills.
  • Proficiency with basic internet searches, data entry, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with document retention software; Blitzdoc preferred.
  • 10-key by touch strongly preferred.
