About The Position

The Loss Mitigation Lead serves as a senior member of the Loan Resolution team, providing guidance and support to Loss Mitigation Specialists while ensuring compliance with investors, insurers, and regulatory guidelines. This role assists in coordinating daily operations, mentoring team members, and driving performance in efforts to help borrowers resolve delinquent mortgage accounts through sustainable solutions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in mortgage servicing, with a focus on loss mitigation or default resolution.
  • Strong understanding of workout options including repayment plans, forbearance, loan modifications, short sales, and deeds-in-lieu.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead by example and support team development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with servicing platforms such as MSP, Black Knight/LPS.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a point of contact for escalated borrower cases and complex loss mitigation scenarios.
  • Support the Supervisor/Manager in coordinating daily team activities and workflow.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to Loss Mitigation Specialists to ensure consistent performance and compliance.
  • Review and approve workout packages, hardship documentation, and resolution recommendations.
  • Monitor team metrics and assist in reporting performance trends to leadership.
  • Ensure adherence to investor guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA) and regulatory requirements (CFPB, RESPA).
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as Customer Service, Collections, and Foreclosure to facilitate resolution strategies.
  • Participate in quality assurance reviews and assist with training initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of borrower interactions and resolution efforts in servicing systems.
  • Stay current on industry changes, loss mitigation programs, and best practices.
  • Assist in special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned.
