About The Position

The Loss Mitigation Coordinator is responsible for accurate review, execution, and fulfillment of approved loss mitigation solutions. This role focuses on reviewing final modification agreements for accuracy, verifying proper borrower execution for recording, managing cash movement and system fulfillment activities, completing post-mod reconciliation, and ensuring servicing systems are updated accurately and timely. This role requires 100% onsite attendance in our Pontiac office.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in mortgage servicing or loss mitigation, preferably in a back-end or post-decision role.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage loss mitigation options and investor/insurer guidelines.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in loan servicing systems (e.g., MSP, LoanServ) and Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook).
  • Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with GSEs and government loss mitigation programs (e.g., Flex Mod, Partial Claims, Modification and Partial Claim Combos).
  • Familiarity with CFPB servicing rules and audit documentation.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and process final modification documents (e.g. permanent modification agreements and/or partial claims).
  • Ensure all documents are signed, recorded, and uploaded accurately and within required timelines.
  • Validate that all conditions of approval are met prior to finalizing a workout solution.
  • Update servicing systems with status, milestones, and resolution outcomes.
  • Monitor pipelines to ensure timely completion of all post-approval steps.
  • Generate and maintain reports related to completed loss mitigation activities.
  • Adhere to investor guidelines (e.g., Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA), CFPB regulations, and internal policies.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing supporting documentation and explanations.
  • Address escalations and resolve discrepancies or borrower concerns as needed.
  • Work closely with foreclosure, bankruptcy, customer service, and escrow teams to ensure seamless resolution.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams when needed for complex cases.
