The Loss Mitigation Compliance Analyst performs ongoing, structured, and rigorous review of loans prior to foreclosure referral and foreclosure sale in order to identify exceptions in loss mitigation processing and customer interactions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field and/or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of relevant mortgage servicing experience, with focus in default servicing
  • Loss mitigation underwriting skills
  • Working knowledge of compliance or quality control processes
  • Knowledge of mortgage lending operations, investor eligibility requirements in the mortgage industry, specifically working knowledge of loss mitigation, foreclosure and bankruptcy operations.
  • Understanding of Regulatory Compliance requirements and investor guidelines and requirements (FNMA, FHLMC, GNMA, VA and FHA)
  • An understanding of operational risk management and the concept of controls to mitigate risk

Responsibilities

  • Performs review of loans prior to foreclosure referral and foreclosure sale in order to identify exceptions in loss mitigation processing and customer interactions
  • Reviews for Borrower cooperation in establishing modifications, and responsiveness in making trial payments or breaches of modifications for technical (non-substantive) reasons
  • Confirms borrowers were educated with loss mitigation opportunities prior to foreclosure referral and foreclosure sale
  • Reviews call records to ensure proper call handling as related to loss mitigation opportunities and offerings; Works with appropriate parties within Cenlar on remediation of identified defects
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues to ensure risk- and control-related special projects assigned by Leadership are completed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Interprets regulatory requirements and investor guidelines to identify opportunities and manage a tracking and reporting mechanism to periodically communicate results
  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures on all federal and state laws, investor/guarantor requirements, and business policies and procedures, as directed by Compliance department
  • Maintains a repository of business and process guidelines and fraud trends
  • Stays abreast of policy and regulatory changes to maintain subject matter expertise
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, include but not limited to compliance and operational risk. Demonstrate consideration for Cenlar’s reputation as well as our clients, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards
