The Longshoreman III position at Gulf Stream Marine involves a variety of responsibilities centered around the loading, unloading, and handling of cargo. This role is critical in ensuring that materials such as containers, bulk items, breakbulk, shipping containers, oil barrels, and other cargo are managed safely and efficiently. The Longshoreman will work under the supervision of the Gang Foreman and may be assigned additional duties as needed. The work environment is predominantly outdoors, exposing the employee to various weather conditions including heat, rain, and cold. The Longshoreman must be capable of performing physical tasks such as walking, bending, stooping, and climbing ladders up to 100 feet. Fast physical reactions are essential, as the role may require quick movements in a noisy environment. The position also necessitates effective communication skills, as the Longshoreman will need to interact with team members and may instruct Yard Hustler Drivers on specific tasks. Additionally, the role may involve the use of tools and lashing materials, as well as handling automatic locks and dunnage during cargo operations.
