About The Position

All employees of Parker Performing Arts School will work together to achieve our school’s vision and mission. In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed below, we seek artistic teachers who are collaborative with colleagues, empathetic in the relationships with students and families, and willing to work above and beyond their job description in order to ensure success for students. PPAS artistic teachers possess a school-wide focus and are able to see beyond their classroom in order to create a unified PPAS community. Position Specific Information (if Applicable): Duties and Responsibilities: • Conducts an organized and professional classroom. o Develops and implements performing arts curriculum according to the curriculum guidelines of PPAS and the state of Colorado. o Implements performing arts curriculum within the timeframe given by PPAS and the state of Colorado. o Further develops performing arts curriculum and maintains ongoing curriculum evaluation and development to meet the needs of students. o Demonstrates exceptional instructional delivery. o Collaborates with other faculty in delivery of appropriate instructional approaches, working to serve the various learning styles and needs of all students. o Models and fosters independent thinking skills, creative problem solving and abstract reasoning. o Shows empathy and understanding of students. • Develops, with parents and students, a cooperative partnership based on mutual respect and objectivity. o Assesses student performance frequently and objectively. o Facilitates resolution of problems that might arise with students and parents. o Promotes accountability for students o Communicates consistently and effectively with students and parents. o Serves in Advisory role in a manner consistent with PPAS’ policies and procedures. • Continues intellectual and artistic professional development. • Follows policies established by the PPAS Board of Directors and administration. • Participates in and contributes to programs and activities that enhance PPAS outside of instructional hours, such as extracurricular activities, leadership positions, and/or enrollment process. • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • B.A/B.S, or higher, in the specific content area (e.g. B.A. in Dance or related field when applying for a dance teaching position) or equivalent professional experience.
  • Must meet the requirements of a Highly Qualified teacher as mandated by the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB).
  • Expert-level written and oral communication skills.
  • Entrepreneurial outlook and charter school commitment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Strong self-starter; able to work with limited direction.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous successful teaching experience.
  • Experience in and knowledge of charter schools.
  • Passion for the arts in educations.
  • Experience with integrating technology in the arts.
