About The Position

The Substitute Teacher position at Virginia Beach City Public Schools involves planning and providing appropriate learning experiences for students under the direction of the school principal. The role requires creating an environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students to ensure their success. Responsibilities include supervising students in various school-related settings, monitoring and evaluating student outcomes, and communicating with students, parents, staff, and the community. The teacher will also develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students while maintaining appropriate records and following required procedures.

Requirements

• Knowledge of VBCPS curriculum and techniques for integrating curriculum.
• Understanding of VBCPS policies and effective instructional practices.
• Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
• Ability to infuse technology into curriculum.
• Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school-based staff, students, parents, and community.
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
• Qualified candidates must be endorsed to teach the subject at the school level or be eligible for a teaching license in the subject area.

Benefits

• Substitute Daily Rate: $125.00/per day if not licensed.
• Substitute Daily Rate: $135.00/per day if licensed.
• Substitute Long-term Rate: $205.00/per day.
