About The Position
Francis W. Parker Charter Essential School seeks a creative, Spanish-speaking educator to join a mission-driven, student-centered program grounded in the Ten Common Principles of the Coalition of Essential Schools as a long-term substitute. This colleague will serve as a member of the Spanish team, designing instruction that motivates students to practice speaking the language with their classmates and acquire Spanish as one acquires their first language, organically, rather than through learning grammar rules. Spanish classes at Parker are immersion- and proficiency-based and desk-free. Instruction includes play, community building, interaction with authentic resources, and encouraging students to create with the language, while pushing them to the next steps in proficiency. Students create portfolios of work and present their learning to show their readiness for promotion.
