JOB DESCRIPTION Job Summary: This position is responsible for insuring the appropriate development and implementation of the evaluation and IEP process for all special education eligible preschool children. Serving as the primary contact for families needing assistance, the Service Coordinator provides information, resources, and support to families, as needed. In addition, this position ensures services are in place for all children and manages all aspects of service delivery including, but not limited to, communication among team members and communication between the Bucks IU and community agencies. Other Duties: This position description does not express nor does it imply that the above duties are the only duties to be performed by the incumbent(s) in this position. Additional duties may be assigned by the Administrator of the department, as needed, to adapt to the changing needs of the organization.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Development, or related field required.
  • PA Certification in Special Education or related field required.
  • Broad and comprehensive knowledge of all areas of early childhood learning and special education.
  • Ability to communicate clearly to local school districts, school boards, Pennsylvania Department of Education, I.U. staff and community and parent groups.
  • Ability to develop and present demonstration material to groups and individuals, including the demonstration of facilitation skills.
  • Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Citizenship or work authorization to work in the United States required.

Responsibilities

  • Attend RR/IEP meetings and act as the LEA Rep
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with families
  • Provide families with information, resources, and contacts
  • Return phone calls/email within 24 hours
  • Process student assignments
  • Meet weekly with supervisor
  • Participate in transition to school age meetings
  • Initiate and facilitate move-process with families
  • Maintain system of student tracking in area/region
  • Conduct student file reviews related to compliance and provider monitoring
