About The Position
The Long Term Substitute Reading Teacher at Richer Elementary School is a part-time position for the 2024-2025 school year, with an estimated employment period from December 16, 2024, to March 27, 2025. This role is crucial in providing direct reading instruction to students, identifying and diagnosing reading deficiencies, and implementing tailored remediation plans. The teacher will work closely with students, utilizing universal screeners, state assessments, and teacher input to select students who require additional support in reading. The position requires collaboration with various educational staff, including Title I, Special Education, and English Learner (EL) programs, to ensure that instructional strategies align with the classroom's English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum and integrated services where applicable. In addition to direct instruction, the Long Term Substitute Reading Teacher will participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), team evaluations, and Student Support Teams (SSTs) as needed. The teacher will also promote students' interest in independent reading, fostering a love for literature and learning. The position is directly responsible to the building Principal and works jointly with the Director of Curriculum & Instruction for PreK-5 and the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning. The teacher is expected to fulfill instructional and general duties as directed by the District Principal and other administrative leaders, adhering to the policies set forth by the Marlborough School Committee.
