About The Position

Instructional LTS paraprofessional grade 4 and 5 sub-separate autism program. This job description outlines the general duties that the instructional paraprofessional will be expected to complete. However, the job duties described may vary or be amended from time to time without changing the level of responsibility associated with the job. Duties may also vary depending upon the age of students served as well as the nature and severity of students’ disability. The primary purpose of instructional paraprofessionals is to support both teachers and students in activities directly related to education.

Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent, AND
An Associate’s (or higher) degree; OR
Evidence of completion of 48 credit hours at an Institution of Higher Education; OR
Evidence of completion of one of the formal Massachusetts-endorsed assessments: ParaPro or WorkKeys

Responsibilities

Assist in the education and social development of students under the direction and guidance of general or special education teachers.
Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for students and monitor progress.
Provide support for identified students both inside and outside the classroom to enable them to participate in activities.
Assist in administration of state/district wide assessments
Implement special strategies as required by supervisor
Maintain confidentiality of student information
Performs all clerical duties as directed by supervisor
Manages student behavior under the direction of supervisor
Demonstrates personal career development through in-service/other training opportunities as provided by the Whitman-Hanson Regional School District
Be capable of physically assisting students with special needs as required (positioning, lifting, transferring, crisis prevention, etc.)
Assisting students with transition to/from transportation
All other duties as assigned
