The position involves teaching a district-approved curriculum and preparing lesson plans accordingly. The teacher will meet and instruct assigned classes at designated locations and times, ensuring that the program of study meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. A key responsibility is to create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. The teacher will encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior and guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals. This includes establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and effectively communicating these objectives to students. Additionally, the teacher will evaluate students' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports. Availability to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day is also expected.
