Position Description Under the direction of the Principal and in conjunction with the Director of English Language Learner (ELL) Education, the ELL Teacher will provide English language development (ELD) instruction to students who have been identified as English Language Learners. The ELL teacher will also work with classroom teachers of ELLs to make the curriculum accessible to them. If the substitute is working during the ACCESS testing window (January/February 2026), they would participate in the required training and administer the ACCESS test to students, as needed.

  • Must be a positive, highly motivated, self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Must be a self-reflective, active learner capable of interactive dialogue with all members of the school community.
  • Must provide a positive structured learning environment and lesson delivery
  • Must have an understanding of theories and teaching methodologies along with understanding of the academic, social and emotional needs of students learning English as a second language.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the WIDA standards and the Massachusetts Standards-Based curriculum.
  • Must have well-established communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to share information and resources as appropriate, including strong written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual proficiency preferred
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of classroom teaching, including ELL teaching experience preferred
  • ESL Certification Preferred
