School Counselor Hillsborough City School District seeks a Long Term Substitute Elementary School Counselor. The School Counselor provides services in the areas listed below. Promotes positive school outcomes Is accessible to students, staff, school administration Establishes rapport and develops positive, productive rapport with students Uses diagnostic skills to gain understanding of students’ presenting problems Works with students in a problem solving modality Uses crisis intervention strategies and skills Facilitates individuals and small groups for counseling Coordinates integrated counseling services Utilizes community resources effectively to help support positive student outcomes Utilizes knowledge of community resources to help meet student needs Utilizes knowledge of effective referrals to meet student/parent needs Acts as a liaison with outside agencies involved with students Fosters and maintains positive relations with community agencies Facilitates change through prevention and intervention for all students Acts as student advocate, catalyst, liaison to parents Utilize qualities of a Systems Thinker Provides student services Plans, implements and participates in large and small group activities that emphasize prevention strategies Facilitates positive change for the students and the schools through prevention and intervention programs Participates in professional growth activities Participates in broad range of professional development activities appropriate to desired areas of skill and knowledge development Demonstrates knowledge acquired through professional development activities and apply to counseling services Participates in collaborative efforts to improve the schoo Participates in school, department, and district committees Performs adjunct duties Demonstrates enthusiasm for the pursuit of counseling excellence Provides support for the inclusion of parents in the school planning process Performs as a productive problem-solving team member with school staff and parents Facilitates group process in an effective way when participating in meetings such as CST’s Demonstrates interpersonal skills needed to work on a team with colleagues, parents, and community members Demonstrates interest and consideration of the needs and feelings of others Communicates effectively with parents, colleagues, and community members Respects the opinion of others Understands the character, values and expectations of the community Utilizes community resources where appropriate Communicates the programs and policies of the district to the community Provides effective interaction between home and school Works willingly with others in the interest of the individual student, school or district
