About The Position

Sparta High School is seeking a qualified and collaborative Long-Term Substitute Mathematics Teacher to cover a temporary absence. This position will involve teaching Geometry , Honors Geometry , and Personal Finance and working closely with the mathematics department to ensure continuity of instruction during this time.

Requirements

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate or active Substitute Permit required.
• Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Comfort with educational technology and digital learning tools.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or a related field preferred.
• Experience teaching secondary mathematics strongly preferred.
• Experience with Geometry and/or Personal Finance coursework is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Teach Geometry , Honors Geometry , and Personal Finance using established curriculum, pacing guides, and instructional resources.
• Deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that support a range of learners.
• Utilize technology effectively, including PowerSchool and Schoology manage assignments, assessments, and communication.
• Collaborate with math department colleagues to maintain instructional consistency and align assessments.
• Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment that supports student learning and accountability.
• Carry out all standard teacher responsibilities, including attendance, grading, supervision, and communication with students and families as needed.
