Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Long-term Intern to join our Engineering Team based in Grand Prairie, TX. Your Challenges: Primary Responsibilities: Will vary based on the project available at the time, but almost always involve: Receive and digest introduction to basic helicopter operation and design, engineering department roles and activities, assigned project goals, Develop project schedule (phases / tasks list, milestones), Create project execution report (content to be adjusted based on target audience), Perform periodic reviews with direct supervisor, Brief project execution / lessons learnt to Department Manager upon project completion. Mechanical background based project examples include: Research technical information for feasibility / obsolescence evaluation Perform maintenance, cataloging, or classification of existing technical data Create CAD models from legacy data or creating new CAD data Assist in prototyping activities the functional definition / analysis of an intended design the accomplishment of engineering airframe designs / analysis (and associated reports) repairs or modifications development programs requiring any type of mechanical or airframe analysis, detail design or testing (and associated reports) project execution performance analysis / improvement data manipulation and analysis (and associated reports) Systems / Electrical background based project may include: Similar activities than mechanical based project except applied to electrical / systems topics Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned. Requirements

  • Need to be currently located or local to the DFW metro area as this is a long-term, onsite internship
  • Currently enrolled pursuing a degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited college/university, required
  • Basic knowledge of 2D or 3D mechanical or structural, OR electrical design requirements, required
  • Able to communicate effectively in the English language (verbal and written), required
  • Proficiency with the following tools/systems: Electrical design software 2D software (AutoCAD) 3D modeling software (SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar) Mathematic or Data processing software
  • Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings daily
  • Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds including safety warnings or alarms daily
  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications daily
  • Equipment Operation: able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment daily
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs daily
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs daily
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture occasionally
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer daily
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving occasionally
  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices daily
  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice rarely
  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces daily
  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
  • Ability to work in the US without current, or future, need for visa sponsorship/work authorization is required for this opportunity.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in 2D or 3D design of detail parts, electrical diagrams, functional diagrams, assemblies and/or installations, preferred
  • Basic coding of data analysis or logical processing functions, preferred
