About The Position

This full-time position is responsible for overseeing the financial aspects for incoming SNF long term residents, focusing on Medicare and Medi-Cal eligibility, assisting with Medi-Cal applications, and ensuring residents’ financial information is gathered, verified, and accurately recorded. This position works directly with residents and their families to manage their financial obligations while maintaining accuracy in billing and record-keeping. Assists with ongoing renewals and financial submissions to County and other entities. Works with Hospital Patient Financial Counselors to assist in Medi-Cal enrollments. This role serves as a crucial link between residents, their families, PDH billing and finance teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years related experience including roles relevant to patient financial counselor; processing financial or personal history documents per policy, explaining insurance benefits and patient/resident financial responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in financial software and billing systems.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with residents, families, and staff.
  • Patience, empathy and strong problem-solving skills are critical for helping residents and their families navigate their financial process.
  • Ability to work independently and perform critical work under deadlines effectively with supervisors and other staff.
  • Ability to foster an environment that nurtures collaboration, teamwork, and mutual respect

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records and communicate with state agencies, caseworkers, and other stakeholders to resolve eligibility issues.
  • Verify insurance details, determine eligibility for government programs, and help patient understand their benefits and coverage.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless financial operations.
  • Liaise with insurance companies to verify coverage and benefits for services.
  • Manage a caseload of resident applications and eligibility renewals, ensuring all cases are processed accurately and meet deadlines.

Our program is operational from 7:45am to 5:15pm, Monday through Friday, and is approved for children aged 0 to 5 years.
