About The Position

The Program Director plays a critical role in ensuring the success and growth of inclusive programming for individuals with disabilities. This position requires a hard-working, detail-oriented, and proactive leader who is passionate about fostering inclusion. The Program Director is chiefly tasked with the operations and the execution of Yachad programs on Long Island. The Program Director will collaborate with families and staff, and work closely with the City Director to enhance quality and expand participation, and have a constant mindset of growth and how to best enhance programing. The role requires a hybrid work model, availability for occasional evenings, weekends, and Shabbatons as needed, and attendance at at least three programs per week to support staff, ensure program quality, and maintain participant engagement. Compensatory time will be granted to make up for time worked outside of typical 9-5 hours.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in program coordination.
  • Strong commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities and promoting inclusion.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Experience in program planning and execution.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic administrative systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working individuals with disabilities strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with local Jewish community networks (shuls, schools) is a plus.
  • Prior experience in community engagement or working with individuals with special needs is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and execute the weekly structure/design and logistics of programs and events in the region.
  • Manage operational details such as ordering food, coordinating staff schedules, and tracking attendance.
  • Ensure programming runs smoothly and meets high standards of quality and inclusion.
  • Organize and attend 6-7 Shabbatons per year, ensuring programming is inclusive and well-staffed.
  • Supervise program staff and volunteers, providing guidance and fostering a positive, inclusive environment.
  • Ensure staff are trained and equipped to deliver a high-quality experience.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local shuls and schools to foster collaboration and increase engagement.
  • Serve as a primary liaison between families, staff, and the City Director.
  • Collaborate with parents to understand participant needs and tailor programs accordingly.
  • Brainstorm with the City Director to raise event quality, improve execution, and increase participation.
  • Monitor and manage invoices to ensure timely payments for events.
  • Work with the finance team to address any payment-related inquiries from participants or their families.
  • Track event budgets, including receipts and staff salaries, to maintain financial accountability.
