About The Position

The Data Center Logistics Technician role involves performing cycle audits, executing incoming/outgoing deliveries, coordinating security escorts for third-party vendors, and documenting inbound and outbound deliveries. This position offers an opportunity to deepen knowledge in inventory management principles, warranty process management, and data bearing device destruction, contributing to career advancement. Requirements

High School Diploma AND 6 months experience or an internship in inventory management, retail, warehouse management, or a related field OR equivalent experience.
The ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

1+ year(s) experience in warehouse/supply chain in an information technology (IT) environment, IT, and/or logistics, operating heavy-load movement equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jacks, chassis lifts) for a large corporation or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

Complies with security and data management policies.
Escalates any security or safety incidents.
Coordinates with security escorts for third-party vendors.
Engages in Task Hazard Analysis (THA) consistently for every task to be performed and ensures sign off from appropriate person for any related risks.
Conducts rack movement activities, supporting training on devices and tools and upholding safety standards.
Follows established protocols on dealing with unsafe materials out of containment, leveraging safety alert system, escalating to management, and properly disposing of them.
Performs assigned tasks and escalates issues during high-volume work activity or escalation-based situations.
Seeks guidance from management before proceeding with the next step of a process.
Begins monitoring inbound and outbound schedules, escalating deviations from scheduling, with guidance.
Travel requirement of up to 25% which means you may be required to travel, from time to time, as part of this role.
Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including shift assignments during non-standard business hours that may include evening, nighttime, weekends and/or holidays.
Performs data entry to document inbound and outbound packages.
Executes incoming/outgoing deliveries as instructed by management (e.g. purchase order [PO] receiving, Rack Movement Supervisor [RMS] activities).
Ensures accurate documentation of incoming and outgoing deliveries as well as records.
Applies appropriate customs documentations and standards for outbound packages.
Maintains a strong focus to understand the impact of their work when completing tickets and assigned Inventory and Asset Management (IAM) tasks.
Ensures IAM tasks are completed accurately as requested, as well as meet company and industry standards and policies.
Becomes familiar with guidelines set by the Microsoft contractual agreements with suppliers and maintains a strong customer focus.
Recognizes potential stakeholder impact of external and internal events and issues, communicates potential impact, and plans for impact accordingly.
Develops working knowledge of stock control and inventory management practices and procedures.
Performs cycle audits and data corrections to ensure all inventory controls are met and helps report and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
Ensures detailed physical inventory tracking and staging, identifying opportunities to improve inventory and address space constraints.
Performs material movement, including shipping/receiving and inventory management per standard process.
Engages supplier to initiate warranty claim when automation is not available and processes the orders.
Processes failed vendor hardware devices using online/other tools, including information processing, packaging, shipment, and receipt of return for Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) and non-RMA devices.
Performs manual return processes for non-RMA failed parts.
Begins to perform manual ordering processes of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts.
Follows all Service Level Agreements (SLAs) related to RMA and non-RMA warranty process.
Performs destruction of data bearing devices (DBD) following all Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Microsoft policies as necessary.
Ensures DBD serial number matches with database.
Supports decommissioning servers, maintaining compliance and meeting Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Notifies management about ordering stock shortages.
Escalates any issues to management.
Follows procedures to contribute to plans to develop, build, and run methodologies.
Follows existing procedures to run processes and ensures execution with consistency, accuracy, and timeliness of delivery.
Completes required security and data management training while complying with security and data management procedures/policies.
Participates in training for relevant site-specific procedures and tools (e.g., forklift, pallet jacks, technician on-hand processes, inventory maintenance software, RMA portals, Rack Movement).
Performs weekly vehicle inspections.
