About The Position

The Logistics Technician is responsible for monitoring the filtering, loading, and movement of different latex products to assigned tanks or trailers at the Alsip, IL facility; also responsible for receiving & shipping raw materials. This position is based in Alsip, IL and involves 12-hour shifts, either from 5:30 am to 5:30 pm or from 5:30 pm to 5:30 am. The position reports directly to the Alsip Production Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma / GED required.
  • One to three years' warehousing or logistics experience in a chemical or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while acting as a strong team member.
  • Strong communication skills required.
  • Previous forklift or powered industrial equipment license or certification is preferred.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at significant heights.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds; both to carry and to lift overhead.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator.
  • Must be able to enter confined spaces.
  • Must be a highly motivated, team player and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Manage filtration operation for latex products off multiple reactor lines.
  • Load latex products into various containers for shipment to customers.
  • Follow housekeeping and safety procedures to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Responsible for unloading of deliveries at the warehouse dock.
  • Attend daily meetings and provide routine communication on the daily loading activities and associated production needs.
  • Follow up these communications in writing, telephone or e-mail as needed.
  • Routine use of a computer to communicate via e-mail, complete online training and other tasks as assigned.
  • Work closely with the control room operator to maintain operations.
  • Completes daily and weekend checklists, including daily inventory.
  • Ensures workplace safety by conducting safety observations and reviews while adhering to safety regulations and procedures.
  • Comply with all standard procedures and work instructions to ensure productivity, quality assurance and cost effectiveness.
  • Identify and communicate potential gains or possible improvements to the management system.
  • Supports the site HES (Health and Environmental Safety) policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema, Inc.
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents.
  • All other duties as assigned.
