About The Position

We are looking for a Logistics Team Lead I located in Odessa, Texas. The Logistics Team Leader oversees a team of material handlers responsible for receiving, offloading, staging, and shipping raw materials and finished goods—including totes, drums, bulk trucks, and railcars—within a chemical manufacturing environment. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant logistics operations while driving continuous improvement and supporting plant production needs.

Requirements

  • Forklift experience
  • Experience in logistics, warehousing, or material handling—preferably in a chemical, industrial, or manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership or team lead experience overseeing hourly or frontline employees
  • Working knowledge of bulk material handling, rail operations, and hazardous materials (HAZMAT)
  • Strong communication, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work safely in an environment involving chemicals, industrial equipment, and regulated processes

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, Business, or a related field
  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing, warehousing, military, or chemical plant environment
  • Proficiency with SAP and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies or Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment, think critically, and lead cross functional problem solving

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of material handlers; ensure accountability to productivity, accuracy, and cost‑saving targets.
  • Prioritize daily tasks and allocate resources to meet production schedules and shipping/receiving demands.
  • Support employee progression programs and provide ongoing feedback and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a positive, safety‑focused work environment where employees can work safely and confidently.
  • Oversee the safe offloading and loading of totes, drums, bulk trucks, and railcars in accordance with plant procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure accurate execution of inventory movements, material staging, and order fulfillment.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and organization of logistics and warehouse areas.
  • Support oversight of inventory levels and collaborate with planning to maintain material availability.
  • Model and enforce SHE behaviors, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company safety standards.
  • Work toward achieving Goal Zero by proactively identifying hazards and eliminating risks.
  • Apply proper escalation processes for non‑conformities; participate in root cause analyses and ensure timely closure of action items.
  • Partner with Quality, Planning, Production, Warehouse, and Maintenance to resolve issues impacting material flow, quality, or service.
  • Communicate logistics metrics, operational updates, and improvement opportunities to both direct reports and leadership.
  • Coordinate operational redesign or improvement projects to enhance service, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and implement year‑over‑year improvements in productivity, cost savings, and service performance.
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimization and waste reduction.
  • Ensure problems are raised, resolved, and escalated appropriately.
