About the position
The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the planning and organization of inbound and outbound shipments to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of goods to customers, suppliers, and for intercompany transfers. This role involves coordinating logistics activities, managing communication with carriers, and maintaining accurate records in the logistics tracking system.
Responsibilities
- Carry out carrier assignment, tender, track and trace activities to support on-time delivery of shipments.
- Coordinate requests for shipments, status updates, and other ad hoc requests.
- Communicate with carrier dispatchers or supplier shipping docks and managers to resolve issues.
- Enter information into logistics trackers to update the system with pertinent activity information during shifts.
- Update and enter data within the logistics system (MAS 90).
- Negotiate freight quotes with local and national freight carriers.
- Monitor logistics spending to stay within forecasted amounts.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience in logistics or supply chain management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
- Good telephone and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple requests.
