About The Position

The Senior Logistics Specialist will be responsible for planning and implementing effective material flow management systems to meet customer requirements within the Department of Defense (DOD) environment. This role will involve overseeing logistics operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal requirements, and enhancing logistics processes to achieve organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Integrated Logistics Support and System Life Cycle Support within the DOD environment.
  • An additional 6 years of experience may substitute for the degree requirement, or 3 additional years with a bachelor's degree.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of logistics and supply chain management principles.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and metrics analysis.
  • Candidates must have an active Secret clearance

  • BA/BS (preferred) Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Material Flow Management: Plan and implement systems to manage material flow that aligns with customer needs.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, and training or safety records.
  • Problem Resolution: Address issues related to transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, and customer concerns.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor import and export processes to ensure adherence to regulatory or legal standards.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement enhancements to internal or external logistics systems or processes.
  • Supervision and Training: Supervise logistics specialists, planners, or schedulers and train shipping department personnel on global logistics strategies.
  • Policy Development: Create and implement policies or procedures for logistics activities.
  • Distribution Center Operations: Direct operations to meet cost, productivity, accuracy, and timeliness objectives.
  • Risk Management: Develop risk management programs to ensure supply continuity during emergencies.
  • Logistical Functions Coordination: Direct inbound and outbound logistics operations, including transportation, warehouse activities, safety performance, and logistics quality management.
  • Lifecycle Management: Coordinate comprehensive logistical functions for product life cycles, including acquisition, distribution, internal allocation, delivery, recycling, reuse, or final disposal of resources.
