About The Position

The Logistics Program Manager for Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) at the City of New York is responsible for coordinating logistics support for New York Task Force One (NY-TF1), which is part of the National US&R Response System. This role involves managing equipment, supplies, and services essential for emergency response operations, ensuring the task force is prepared for deployment during disasters. The position requires a strong background in logistics, warehouse management, and emergency management, with a focus on operational efficiency and resource management in high-pressure situations.

Requirements

  • Background in warehouse/equipment management, warehouse/fleet operations, emergency management, or the transportation industry.
  • Experience in logistics management and resource coordination in emergency situations.
  • Ability to operate large vehicles, preferably with a CDL-A License.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing equipment and inventory.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with emergency response operations and coordination with federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Familiarity with the National Urban Search & Rescue Response System.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the purchasing, servicing, and delivery of NY-TF1 equipment, supplies, and services.
  • Manage, upload, and track documentation associated with the purchasing, servicing, and delivery of NY-TF1 equipment, supplies, and services.
  • Manage NY-TF1's Fleet Maintenance Program, including maintaining Vehicle Fleet Reports and tracking preventive maintenance.
  • Drive vehicles to and from vendors for service, including operating NY-TF1 owned vehicles such as tractor/trailers and other large/medium sized vehicles.
  • Assist with the management of NY-TF1's equipment inventory database, tracking maintenance status, location, funding source, etc.
  • Maintain inventories, including NY-TF1's uniform cache.
  • Provide building access monitoring and perform basic maintenance on equipment such as tools and generators.
  • Perform strenuous physical labor when required and use creative problem-solving for logistics challenges in emergency situations.
  • Support the task force with various logistical and administrative projects, including during training, exercises, Alert, Activation, and Demobilization Orders.
  • Deploy with NY-TF1 in a clerical support role at the direction of the Deputy Commissioner of Logistics.
