About the position

The Logistics Planner FLEX position at Ryder is responsible for planning routes and scheduling resources to optimize operations across multiple accounts. This role focuses on resource allocation, ensuring efficient use of people, trucks, and freight to enhance revenue and profitability. The position requires continuous monitoring of trip progress and resource utilization, as well as effective communication with drivers and management to address any issues that arise during operations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor trip progression and resource utilization throughout the day.
  • Utilize Geotab and RyderDrive to ensure drivers adhere to schedules and coordinate with Driver Managers when necessary.
  • Adjust routes based on feedback from Driver Managers regarding driver issues.
  • Select optimal equipment and trailers for freight to maximize operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Assign loads to drivers to enhance profitability, customer satisfaction, and driver retention.
  • Monitor ongoing freight optimization based on current loads in progress.
  • Work with Account Management and backhaul coordination teams to develop solutions that increase revenue and resource utilization.
  • Develop recovery plans for customer shipments when issues arise.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Transportation, Supply Chain, or Logistics preferred.
  • 4-6 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain required.
  • Advanced route planning skills required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of DOT requirements required.
  • Strong organizational, follow-up, and computer skills required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms required.
  • Ability to work self-directed with minimal supervision required.
  • Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy required.
  • Ability to learn new IT systems required.
  • Ability to analyze situations and make informed decisions required.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments required.

  • Experience with Geotab and RyderDrive systems preferred.
