About The Position

The Material Handler position at Covestro involves operating and maintaining equipment in a chemical processing facility while adhering to safety protocols. This role requires participation in safety training, handling hazardous materials, and performing equipment maintenance. The position operates on a rotating shift and is crucial for the efficient running of production operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years of Industrial experience or an Associate degree in applied sciences or process technology certificate
  • Eligibility to apply for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)

Responsibilities

  • Participate and adhere to all safety related training and safety programs
  • Operate machines or mechanical equipment in a safe and efficient mode
  • Follow all procedures for operating and controlling the unit manually or via process control system
  • Startup/Shutdown of the Production Facility
  • Handle Hazardous and Non-hazardous material (Loading/Unloading Raw Materials and Final Products)
  • Conduct Product Changeover activities
  • Perform Equipment Clearing, Cleaning, and Decontamination
  • Maintain housekeeping of the area and comply with inspections
  • Drive Ottawa and forklift for Trailer and Equipment Moves
  • Load/Unload Trucks/Rail/Barges/Iso-Containers
  • Collect Samples for the Lab
  • Apply Process Control and take appropriate corrective actions
  • Perform autonomous maintenance/repairs in coordination with the technical team
  • Maintain shift log and hold effective handover
  • Mitigate unsafe conditions by unit shut-down or activation of emergency systems
  • Troubleshoot and respond to process deviations
  • Follow all site and unit specific safety procedures and requirements
  • Operate the RFID reader system for all railcars
  • Utilize the RailManager and SAP system for loading trucks/railcars/barges/Iso-Containers
  • Be trained with Phenol Respirex PPE at the Barge Dock
