About The Position

Logistics Manager - This position is responsible for ensuring the cost effective, on time shipment of all products via rail as well as all liquid products via truck while minimizing fixed and variable costs and maximizing customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment OR 10-15 years of relevant experience in chemical logistics or supply chain without a degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in logistics or supply chain roles.
  • 3-5 years of railroad and/or tank truck related experience or equivalent combination of education and logistics experience.
  • 3 years' experience in supervising or leading others required, that leadership experience in a manufacturing environment/culture is preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of how customer demand, forecast and manufacturing dynamics translate to logistics needs.
  • Working knowledge of DOT, TDG regulations regarding the movement of hazardous, time sensitive materials.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to synthesize data into a clear, concise picture/message or call to action.
  • Strong leadership, facilitation of positive change, communications, team building, and conflict resolution skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Training in OPEX, Lean Six-Sigma and/or root-cause & corrective-action development.
  • SAP knowledge or experience required.
  • TMS (transportation management system) experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage logistics operations, including rate and route management, shipment execution, invoice payment, accruals, and claims.
  • Lead and develop the Rail/Truck operations team.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with SHE and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee strategic planning for hopper and tank car assets.
  • Develop and implement infrastructure to support logistics operations (fleet size, storage, maintenance, inspections, etc.).
  • Handle logistics sourcing for tank trucks and rail, including contract management, RFPs, negotiations, and performance monitoring.
  • Manage rail asset acquisition, disposition, and vendor negotiations.
  • Maintain rail fleet operations, including tracing, inspections, cleaning, transit time management, asset utilization, and regulatory compliance.
