About The Position

At Utz Quality Foods, we’re more than just a snack company, we’re a family with a passion for quality, innovation, and people.  We’re expanding and hiring an Inventory Lead to join our dedicated team in Gastonia, NC. In this role, you’ll provide timely support to the Logistics Supervisor to ensure smooth operations and serve as the acting Logistics Supervisor when needed.   In this role you are responsible for providing timely support to the Warehouse Supervisor and Warehouse Clerk to ensure optimal flow of the operations.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of loading and shipping operations required in order to properly plan and execute a daily shipping schedule.
  • Exhibits supervisory skills necessary to lead others, coordinate flow and meet deadlines.
  • Requires reading and math skills and computer literacy including MS Excel and D365 proficiency.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and retain a forklift license for both sit down and standup forklifts.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to manage multiple tasks; work within time constraints; and shifting priorities is required.
  • Ability to communicate well, both though written and verbal communication skills.
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, and push/ pull up to 35lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. on occasion.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee the receipt of incoming goods, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Verify inbound documentation and reconcile shipments against purchase orders.
  • Direct unloading activities and ensure proper staging and put-away of materials.
  • Communicate with procurement and inventory teams regarding discrepancies or delays.
  • Monitor team performance and provide on-the-floor guidance and training.
  • Ensure all inbound processes comply with safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of inbound shipments and inventory adjustments.
  • Supervise the picking, staging, and loading of outbound shipments.
  • Confirm load sheets and shipping documentation for accuracy.
  • Assign dock doors and trailer numbers to optimize outbound flow.
  • Communicate with transportation and customer service teams to resolve issues.
  • Ensure timely dispatch of all scheduled shipments.
  • Train and support team members on outbound procedures and safety protocols.
  • Monitor outbound KPIs and report variances to the supervisor.
  • Oversee case picking operations to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assign picking tasks and monitor progress against daily targets.
  • Validate picked orders for completeness and correctness.
  • Coordinate with replenishment and outbound teams to maintain workflow.
  • Provide training on picking systems and equipment (e.g., RF scanners).
  • Address picking errors and implement corrective actions.
  • Support inventory control through cycle counts and audits.
  • Performs other duties as assigned that will impact and support the overall outcome of the company and department objectives.
  • Works with management and fellow associates to ensure Food Safety programs are followed.
  • Responsible for quality and safety tasks for their position.
  • Reports food, office or operational safety problems to a supervisor or manager for initiating action.
