About The Position

PPG's Aerospace Business is looking for an Logistics Engineer to join our Supply Chain Team! As the Logistics Engineer you will support a global network of Application Support Centers (ASC's) and manufacturing plants providing material supplying the Aerospace industry. This is a hybrid role which can be based in one of the following locations: Dallas, TX; Atlanta, GA; or Los Angeles, CA. You would report to the Global Supply Chain Director.

Requirements

  • Only U.S. Citizens, Green Card holders, and political asylees or refugees are eligible to apply.
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or Logistics required.
  • 6+ years of experience in process optimization, logistics, distribution, or supply chain engineering required.
  • Proficiency in process improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma or Kaizen.
  • Experience with logistics and distribution optimization techniques, including transportation routing, inventory management, and demand forecasting.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Knowledge of global logistics standards, international shipping, and customs regulations.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Experience working with and managing third party vendors.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and evaluate existing warehouse processes, identifying opportunities for optimization and streamlining.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across supply chain to develop and implement process improvement strategies.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and other process improvement tools to drive operational excellence and reduce costs.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Develop layouts of warehouse logistics flows and warehouse space.
  • Specify, procure and oversee installation of equipment associated with warehouse layout and process design.
  • Use of CAD based software for review of material handling equipment, building layout and material flow.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments and provide evaluation reports.
  • Oversee and manage process improvement projects.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and documentation.
  • Develop, report, and drive improvement in KPI's for inventory reduction, labor productivity, space utilization and material-handling cost.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for topics, discussions, and projects related to labor utilization, equipment and facility design, and labor costs and productivity.
  • Support activities to optimize full network layout including inbound/outbound and location optimization.
